Our Mission Statement

MLJC is the North West of England’s Liberal Jewish Community with progressive values supporting, developing and serving its members and reaching out into the wider community, and in particular reaching out to those on whom Jewish history, heritage, faith or culture has a claim – whether by descent or by choice.

We actively seek to include those who have experienced exclusion and discrimination on account of their gender, sexuality, disability or halakhic status (interfaith marriage, adoption, patrilineal descent, etc) based on the central Jewish values of truth (emet), social justice (tzedek) and loving kindness (chesed).

Be part of a Jewish community that encourages you to think for yourself. We know that Jews come in all colours of the rainbow so come and join us. Your spirituality is more important than your background.

Liberal Judaism

We meet monthly on the first Friday of the month and for the major Holy Days.

(Dress code: both men and women are welcome to wear a tallit and/or a kippah (yarmulke) at any of our services and we would encourage individuals to do so if they are involved in leading the service, however neither is obligatory and we respect the individual's decision as to what is most appropriate for themselves.)

MLJC is available for weddings and bar/bat mitzvahs.

We will perform same-sex weddings following a civil partnership.

MLJC is affiliated to Liberal Judaism, part of the World Union of Progressive Synagogues.
MLJC supports the New Israel Fund and is a Fairtrade Synagogue.
